I just want to commend you on what you are doing! This is something I sadly have just been opening my eyes to and I only hope there are more out there like you. My husband and I are dreaming of doing what you do.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
Hi Christine
ReplyDeleteThank you for the feedback. It is my dream that "eyes are opened" and that more will take up the ethical treatment of farm animals and that consumers will choose ethically produced food. I hope your dream will become reality. All the best. cowboss
I have an incubator and am looking to hatch some heritage hens to replace my old ones. Do you have any eggs available? email me at authordonnadawson at hotmail dot com. Thanks so much.
ReplyDeleteDonna
Hi Donna
ReplyDeleteWe can not help you there but I will leave this here a while and maybe someone else that has heritage hatching eggs will contact you.
Hey Cowboss, my pigs loved the wurtels you gave us, Thanks for the seed as well, cant wait to have a few rows of them pop up! Greetings, Rob @ Willow Creek Farm, Dutton
ReplyDeleteGood to hear Rob. You may be waiting a while to plant the mangels by the looks of it, at least if you have as much snow as we have.
DeleteI was looking for info on the short season sorghum. I am interested in seed for that as well as the mangels to use as a chicken feed supplement (and people food lol). Sowing directions, how long to harvest, and what not.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
Krysta.
Hi Krysta
DeletePlanting for both is like corn, both need lots of space. 6 inch spacing in 34 - 36 inch rows for the sorghum and about 1 inch deep, 4 inch spacing for the mangels 1/2 inch deep and then thinned out to 8 inch spacing. I know little about the sweet cane sorghum as it's my first year, so you can be part of the "experiment". The mangels make great feed and are quite easy to grow.
Hi Cowboss! I'm in Regina, SK, and I see that you put up an article about ecotherapy. I'm interested in training in ecotherapy and wondered if you know of anywhere in Canada that has a reputable training programme or who is working in that field. I'm on the list for the UK, but their weekend workshops are kinda too short for the necessary investment ;) Thanks, Peace, Rachel.
ReplyDeleteHi Rachel, sorry but I can not help you out there. Maybe in time courses will come to Canada. Hopefully somebody reading this has some ideas. I just find that on a whole bunch of points that nature and being in nature is very healing.
DeleteHow do I order some yellow mangle seeds?
ReplyDeleteThanks,
Dawn
Hi Dawn, We are out of yellow mangel seed till fall. Contact me then and I will get you seed for next year. Thanx
DeleteHi Ivan, what is your address? We would be coming from Barrie. I will ask family and friends who would be interested in making a large order of beef. Probably half a cow. What time frame would we be looking at if we ordered soon?
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mike
